Summary
Measurements of two-photon conductivity in ZnS(Cu) and CdS single crystals excited by aQ-switched ruby laser are reported. The results show the typical quadratic dependence of two-photon processes. In CdS the photocurrent is originated by band-band transitions, while in ZnS(Cu) impurity states are involved. From a comparison between the experimental results and a theoretical analysis of the photo-current a determination of the nonlinear cross-section is obtained; this is in good agreement with two-photon absorption measurements.
