Wall-stabilized, high-β equilibria in tokamaks of arbitrary cross-section

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento B (1971-1996)

Summary

By proper tayloring of the plasma current profile it is possible to obtain tokamak equilibria which remain wall stabilized up to substantially greater values of the critical β than has previously been reported. Such equilibria, if attainable, possess an adequate safety factorq, and might represent a very attractive reactor operating regime.
