A natural approach to the theory of the radiative corrections to atomic levels

Summary

The problem of the shifts of the energy levels of nonrelativistic system interacting with a quantized field is investigated with the help of secular equations. The integral form of the secular equation in an extension of the Brillouin-Wigner-Kramers perturbation expansion. The Rayleigh-Schrödinger series is found as a limit valid for a small enough cut-off energy. Applications are made to the Lamb effect and the anomalous magnetic moment.

Con l’aiuto di equazioni secolari si studia il problema degli spostamenti deilivelli dienergia di un sistema non relativistico che interagisce con un campo quantizzato. La forma integrale dell’equazione secolare è un’estensione dello sviluppo perturbativo in serie di Brillouin-Wigner-Kramers. Come limite valido per un’energia di taglio sufficientemente piccola si trova la serie di Rayleigh-Schrödinger. Si fanno applicazioni all’effetto Lamb e al momento magnetico anomalo.

С помощью секулярных уравнений исследуется проблема сдвига энергетических уровней нерлятивистской системы, взаимодействующей с квантованным полем. Интегральная форма секулярного уравнения представляет расширение пертурбационного разложения Бриллюна-Вигнера-Крамерса. В пределе получается, что ряд Рэлея-Шредингера справедлив для достаточно малых энергий обрезания. Предложенный подход применяется к исследованию Лэмбовского сдвига и аномального магнитного момента.
