Indistinguishability of particles and complementarity in statistical thermodynamics

Summary

We discuss the complementarity existing between statistical and dynamical descriptions of macroscopic systems, introduced by Bohr and quantitatively expressed by some correlation relations obtained in the framework of the Landau’s fluctuation theory. An operative analysis of this logical relation leads to a new interpretation of the concept of indistinguishability of identical particles.
