On an additional relativistic effect in fermionic stars

  • Note Brevi
  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento B (1971-1996)

Summary

Using a Fermi-Thomas analogue treatment generalized to gravitational Newtonian interactions a unified formulation is presented both for white dwarfs and neutron stars. The impact of special relativistic effects is recalled on the equilibrium mass and a pure relativistic effect on the moment of inertia is pointed out. Possible means for observing these pure relativistic effects are proposed.
