An analysis of a nuclear scattering resonance by the Regge representation

Summary

A nuclear resonance scattering process has been analysed by using the one-pole approximation to the Regge representation. It is shown that in general the background integral is very important and may be neglected only for sufficiently backward angles. The qualitative features of the Regge trajectory near the resonance energy are deduced and their physical consequences are discussed.

Usando l’approssimazione ad un polo alla rappresentazione di Regge è stato analizzato un processo di scattering nucleare intorno ad una risonanza. Si è trovato che in generale l’integrale di fondo è molto importante e può essere trascurato solo per angoli sufficientemente all’indietro. Vengono discusse le caratteristiche qualitative della traiettoria di Regge vicino alla risonanza e le loro conseguenze fisiche.
