Summary
It has been shown that the degree of polarization (coherence) of light transmitted through CdS and ZnO crystals decreases rapidly when the exciton region is approached. In this paper we report further experimental observations dealing with the properties of transmitted light and propose a model which can give a qualitative explanation of these observations.
