  11. The determination of the pion scattering structure function carried out here is not just an interesting theoretical application of the reciprocity ideas, firstly because data on the pion structure function may be forthcoming from Serpukhov and secondly because, by comparing the computed pion structure function with the proton’s, important general conclusions may be drawn regarding the shape, asymptotic behaviour and other characteristics which are supposed to reflect the internal structure of hadrons.
