Summary
A quantum elaboration of quantum theory of dispersion is exposed, which is an approximation different of the one ofDirac andHeitler. Through a generalization of the resolving operator in the standing case as well as in the non standing, a solution is found dependent on an arbitrary parameterc, which is more general than the usual perturbative solution and tends towards it in the limitc→0. This solution is used for the determination of the variation of the shift and the width of the lines of a system when the latter is subjected to a perturbationH′. In fact, introducing the dependence ofc on the azimuthal quantuml, c l may be expressed as a function of the phase shiftδ (0) l of the unperturbed system and of the perturbationH′; c l is moreover univocally connected with the phase shiftδ l the perturbed system. The real part ofc l gives the shift of the resonance level, whereas the imaginary part gives the width of the line corresponding to statel. These quantities are thus connected, throughδ (0) l , with the boundary conditions of the unperturbed system.
