Primary heavy cosmic rays near the geomagnetic equator

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento (1955-1965)

Summary

G-5 emulsions were exposed in February, 1957 during the Operation EQUEX on two flights of about 100 000 foot altitudes for about 71/2 h each. Tracks of nuclei cfZ ⩾ 10 were studied. The δ-ray method of counting was used. Results are given for the angular distribution, charge spectrum, flux at the top of the atmosphere, and attenuation mean free path.
