Wave energy transfer in time-dependent nonlinear wave-wave interactions

Summary

The wave energy transfer in a system of three nonlinearly interacting waves with well-defined phases and time-dependent complex wave frequencies and coupling coefficients is studied. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the unidirectional transfer of wave energy and their relation to instability are established. Also, sufficient conditions for the nonexistence of explosive instabilities are derived. Finally, results are obtained for the special case where one of the waves is intense and the wave frequencies and coupling coefficients fluctuate with time about their mean values.

Si studia il trasferimento dell’energia d’onda in un sistema di tre onde che interagiscono non linearmente con fasi, frequenze d’onda complesse dipendenti dal tempo e coefficienti di accoppiamento ben definiti. Si fissano le condizioni necessarie e sufficienti per il trasferimento unidirezionale dell’energia d’onda e le loro connessioni con l’instabilità. Si deducono anche le condizioni sufficienti perché non esistono instabilità esplosive. Infine, si perviene a risultati per il caso particolare in cui una delle onde sia intensa e frequenza d’onda e coefficienti di accoppiamento oscillino nel tempo attorno ai loro valori medi.

Исследуется передача энергии от волны к волне в системе трех нелинейно взаимодействующих волн с точно определенными фазами и зависящими от времени комплексными частотами волн и козффициентами связи. Определяются необходимое и достаточное условия для однонаправленной передачи энергии от волны к волне и устанавливается связь этих условий с неустойчивостью. Также выводятся необходимые условия для отсутствия взрывных неустойчивостей. В заключение, получены результаты для специального случая, когда одна из волн является интенсивной и частоты волн и коэффициенты связи флуктуируют со временем относительно их средних величин.
