Infrared polarized emission from anisotropic cosmic dust

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento B (1971-1996)

Summary

The problem of polarimetric effects of cosmic dust has been reviewed, with particular reference to the magnetic alignment mechanism. Aligned anisotropic dust grains are expected to emit detectable polarized radiation in the far infra-red region. Polarimetric infra-red measurements can contribute effectively to the knowledge of the nature and distribution of dust grains.
