A discussion of some recent results on cosmic-ray muons

Summary

We study the unexpected results of recent experiments on cosmic-ray muons of very high energy and the consistency of some of their interpretations. We find that although these interpretations cannot be dismissed outright as untenable, their physical bases will have to await more refined data, hopefully from many experimental groups, before they can be finally established.

Мы исследуем неожиданные реэультаты последних зкспериментов по мюонам космических лучей с очень высокой знергией и непротиворечивость некоторых интерпретаций зтих реэультатов. Мы находим, что хотя зти интерпретации не могут сраэу быть отклонены, как несостоятельные, их фиэические обоснования должны ждать уточненных данных, желательно от многих зкспериментальных групп, прежде чем они могут быть окончательно приняты.
