Chaotic dynamics in a simple electromagnetic system

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento B (1971-1996)

Summary

The paper deals with the dynamics of a linear, non-dispersive and non-dissipative transmission line connected at one end to a linear resistor, and to a piecewise-linear resistor at the other end. The physical system, in spite of its simplicity, can exhibit bifurcation phenomena and chaotic dynamics. One of its most interesting features is the appearance of chaotic behaviours in the spatial profile of the electromagnetic waves.
