The 90° Thomson-scattering apparatus for the alcator device

Summary

We describe the structure and performance of the apparatus built for the measurement of electron temperature and density by means of Thomson scattering of laser light on the plasma of the Alcator device at M.I.T. Examples of measurements are reported.
