On the surface behaviour of a homeotropic nematic-liquid-crystal cell

Il Nuovo Cimento B (1971-1996)

Summary

The reduced extrapolation length Λ of a homeotropic nematic-liquid-crystal cell has been theoretically investigated as a function of the reduced anchoring energy β and the reduced fieldu in the case of anisotropic elasticity. For a particular MBBA cell the experimental behaviour of both β and Λvs. the reduced temperature τ has been reported.
