Summary
For a space-time consisting of dust, it can be shown that the conservation lawsT ab; b =0 imply that the motion of the dust is governed by the geodesic equation (i.e. U a; b U b=0)—this is referred to as the «dust condition». We shall consider two «nonmetric» theories of gravity. In the firstT ab; b =0, but test particles are not governed by the geodesic equation. In the second theory of gravity, test particles are governed by the geodesic equation, butT ab; b ≠0. We shall show that the «dust condition» is sufficient to prove that (the nonmetric versions of) these two theories are inconsistent.
е.U a; b U b=0), которое называется «пылевым условием».
