This article describes the aims and activities of the new UNESCO-sponsored International Association for Mass Communication Research, of which the author became president January 1. Dr. Nixon is professor of journalism at the University of Minnesota and editor ofJournalism Quarterly, published by the Association for Education in Journalism. Since March 1957 he has visited 45 countries to study their research facilities in the field of mass communication.
