On the linewidth of electromagnetic radiation in equilibrium with an optical cavity

Summary

The process by which the electromagnetic radiation attains equilibrium in a laser cavity is studied. The expression of the linewidth is derived and the influence of mirror motion on the broadening is examined. The case of thermal motion is treated in details.

Nel presente lavoro si studia il processo con cui la radiazione elettromagnetica entra in equilibrio in una cavità laser. Si ricava l’allargamento della linea di oscillazione e si trova, per un laser ideale, l’influenza del moto degli specchi su tale allargamento. Il caso di moti termici è trattato in dettaglio.

Иэучается процесс, при котором злектромагнитное иэлучение достигает равновесия в лаэерном реэонаторе. Выводится выражение для щирины линии, и исследуется влияние движения эеркала на ущирение. В деталях рассматривается случай теплового движения.
