Summary
A new type of detector for rare nuclear processes, called «spinner», is described. The principle of the detector consists in producing negative pressures in a liquid by centrifugal forces. The so created metastable state can be destroyed like in the normal bubble chamber by local energy deposition of nuclear particles. The spinner has so far proven to be useful for the determination of spontaneous fission rates and for the detection of very low neutron fluxes.
