Observations on Λ overbinding in nuclear matter

Summary

New and old results of Jastrow calculations of the Λ binding energy in nuclear matter based on the effective central two-body\(\mathcal{N} - \Lambda \) potentials of Herndon and Tang are collected and discussed. Arguments in favor of the reliability of the Jastrow evaluation are presented. The possibility of erasing the large discrepancy between the calculated results and the accepted empirical value forB Λ by the incorporation of a three-body\(\mathcal{N} - \mathcal{N} - \Lambda \) potential, or by the use of a two-body\(\mathcal{N} - \Lambda \) potential with tensor component, is considered, and some tentative numerical work along these lines described.

Si mettono insieme e si discutono vecchi e nuovi risultati dei calcoli di Jastrow dell’energia di legame del Λ nella materia nucleare basati sui potenziali centrali effettivi a due corpi\(\mathcal{N} - \Lambda \) di Herndon e Tang. Si presentano argomenti in favore dell’attendibilità delle valutazioni di Jastrow. Si considera la possibilità di eliminare la grande discrepanza fra i risultati teorici ed il valore empirico accettato perB Λ incorporando un potenziale a tre corpi\(\mathcal{N} - \mathcal{N} - \Lambda \) o usando un potenziale a due corpi\(\mathcal{N} - \Lambda \) con componente tensoriale. Si descrive un lavoro numerico di prova eseguito lungo queste linee.

Собираются и обсуждаются новые и старые реэультаты вычислений. Ястрова для знергии Λ-свяэи в ядерном вешестве, основанных на зффективных двух-частичных\(\mathcal{N} - \Lambda \) потенциалах Герндона и Танга. Приводятся аргументы в польэу достоверности оценки Ястрова. Рассматривается воэможность сглаживания больщого раэличия между вычисленными реэультатами и принятой змпирической величинойB Λ, посредством включения трех-частичного\(\mathcal{N} - \mathcal{N} - \Lambda \) потенциала или посредством испольэования двух-частичного\(\mathcal{N} - \Lambda \) потенциала с тенэорной компонентой. Также описывается некоторая предварительная численная работа в зтом направлении.
