Summary
This paper reports the results of a variational calculation of the binding energyD of a Λ in nuclear matter, based on an extension of the Jastrow method for nuclear binding energies. For direct two-body Λ-N interactions, these results are in approximate agreement with those based on independent-pair approximations, which are also discussed. Neither of these methods has been fully explored, but current theoretical estimates ofD suggest the presence of a significant space-exchange component in the two-body Λ-N interaction and/or a three-body force which leads to a negative contribution toD.

In questo articolo si riferiscono i risultati di un calcolo variazionale dell’energia di legameD di un Λ nella materia nucleare, basati su un’estensione del metodo di Jastrow per le energie di legame nucleari. Per interazioni dirette Λ-N a due corpi, questi risultati sono in approssimativo accordo con quelli basati sull’approssimazione delle coppie indipendenti, pure discussi. Nessuno di questi metodi è stato studiato a fondo, ma le consuete stime teoriche diD suggeriscono la presenza di una significativa componente di scambio di spazio nell’interazione Λ-N a due corpi e/o una forza a tre corpi che porta ad un contributo aD negativo.
