Magnetic properties of water-1, 4 dioxane mixtures

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento B (1965-1970)

Summary

The diamagnetic susceptibility of water-1,4 dioxane mixtures has been, determined at 20° and 25 °C in the full concentration range. Mixtures are more diamagnetic than what should be according to the law of additivity; the highest deviations (0.7%) are observed in the range (0÷60) % mole of dioxane. It is inferred that dioxane breaks the structure of water and forms an associate with it in molecular ratio 1:2.
