Relativistic corrections in elastic e-D scattering

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento B (1965-1970)

Summary

We have compared a simple nonrelativistic wave-function model of the deuteron to what we believe to be its completely relativistic counterpart, followingCutkosky (1) andJones (2). The result is an ansatz hich allows one to make a plausible modification of more sophisticated wave-function models to a manifestly covariant form. This ansatz is used in reanalyzing low momentum transfer elastic e-d scattering to yield the neutron charge-form factor. Our conclusion is that the surprisingly rapid curvature of this form factor at low momentum transfer as previously noted (2) remains and is even somewhat increased if the ansatz is used.
