Conclusion

Modern-day blacksmiths are a diverse group, creating intricate designs in layers of metal or simple kitchen hooks. But all share a fascination with the power of shaping a metal bar. Most can recall vividly the moment when they became convinced that their hand was meant to wield a hammer, and glowing metal should be a presence in their lives.

From the farriers to sculptors, black-smiths are drawn to hot coals, cold metal, and the results when the two are combined.
