Max Lerner is a nationally syndicated columnist for the Los Angeles Timesand the New York Post.Now in his eighties, he is author of America as a Civilization; It Is Later Than You Think; Ideas Are Weapons;and Values in Education.He has edited major works on Thorstein Veblen, Oliver Wendell Holmes, and Alexis de Tocqeville. Dr. Lerner served on the social science faculty at Sarah Lawrence College, Williams College, and Harvard University, and later became professor of American civilization at Brandeis University.
