Abraham Edel is research professor of philosophy at the University of Pennsylvania and Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the City University of New York. The most recent of his many books are Interpreting Education; Aristotle and His Philosophy;and Morality, Philosophy, and Practice.

Among his books are Everyone Was Brave: The Rise and Fall of Feminism in Americaand, most recently, American High: The Years of Confidence, 1945–1980.

His research involves various aspects of the political behavior of organizations. His most recent book is The Organizational State,coauthored with Edward O. Laumann.

Paul Gottfried is senior editor of the journal The World and Iand editor in chief of Continuity: A Journal of History.He is author of many publications on social and intellectual history, including Conservative Millenarians, Arthur Schopenhauer and the Heritage of European Pessimism,and The Search for Historical Meaning.He is also a former Guggenheim fellow and former professor of history at Rockford College.
