Douglas Harper is associate professor of sociology at the State University of New York, College at Potsdam. He is editor of theVisual Sociology Review; editor of Visual Studies, a book series for Temple University Press; and photography editor of SOCIETY. He is the author of two books that use photographs in ethnographic analysis, and he is working on a book on visual sociology and an ethnography of an agricultural community in northern New York.
