Martha A. Ackelsberg is professor of government at Smith College, where she teaches courses on urban politics, political participation, and feminist theory. She has published articles on women’s political activism, the politics of families, and the Spanish revolution; and she is completing a book, to be published by Indiana University Press, on the Spanish anarchist women’s organization, Mujeres Libres.
