Robert L. Kidder is editor of the Law and Society Reviewand author of Connecting Law and Society.His field work in South India included studies of litigation, lawyer-client relations, court operations, and relations between law and local-level political organization.

She is editor of The Family in Political Thought;and author of Meditations on Western Political Thoughtand Public Man, Private Woman: Women in Social and Political Thought,which was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.

Bernard Schissel has taught at the University of Calgary, where he is a doctoral candidate in the department of sociology. For the past ten years, he has operated a 1300-acre grain farm in Alberta, Canada.

Nicholas DiMarzio is executive director of Migration and Refugee Services for the United States Catholic Conference. He is coauthor of Undocumented Aliens in the New York Metropolitan Area: An Exploration into Their Social and Labor Market Incorporation.
