Additional information
Steve Gold has been studying resettlement and community formation among Soviet Jewish and Vietnamese refugees in California since 1982. To learn about refugees, Gold worked as a volunteer English teacher — visiting refugees in their homes on a weekly basis for a year and a half. He also worked at resettlement agencies and interviewed refugee leaders, resettlement staff and entrepreneurs. He is assistant professor of sociology at Whittier College and president of the International Visual Sociology Association.
