David Stupple, who died last year, was associate professor of sociology at Eastern Michigan University. Interested in all forms of popular culture, he specialized in the study of flying saucer groups and traditions.

His reports on space-related issues have appeared in Astronomy, Omni, Astronautics and Aeronautics,and other U.S. publications.
