Summary and conclusions

This paper has attempted to delineate the dynamics of the colonial society. In so doing, the writer has emphasized the fact that colonial society must be viewed as a unique sociocultural system which produces a unique set of social actors—the colonizer and the colonized. The paper has also attempted to capture the complexity of this process—the human toll paid by both the colonizer and the colonized. It also attempted to destroy or clarify some of the distortions reflected in the literature on the dynamics of this process.
