Paul Howard is a graduate in political philosophy from Fordham University and wrote his dissertation on “The Role of the Novelist in Liberal Democracies: The Works of Milan Kundera.” He has also written book reviews forThe Review of Politics and Perspectives on Political Science. He is currently the deputy director of the Center for Civic Innovation at the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research.

David Lewis Schaefer is professor of political science at Holy Cross College (Worcester, MA). He is the author ofThe Political Philosophy of Montaigne (Cornell, 1990) and of a forthcoming book titledJohn Rawls and the American Political Tradition.

Linda Frey, is a professor of history at the University of Montana, and was recently elected as faculty senate Officer for History at the University of Montana. She was also McDermott Chair in Humanities and Public Affairs for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point for the 2000–2001 academic year.
