The natural sciences: Trouble ahead? Yes

In looking back…we can draw two important lessons. The first is that alternative sciences or parasciences by themselves may be harmless enough except as one of the opiates of the masses, but that when they are incorporated into political movements they become a time bomb waiting to explode. We have recently been watching just such a possibility in the United States. —Gerald Holton
