Modification of the adsorption properties of the dispersed phase of magnetorheological liquids

Journal of Engineering Physics and Thermophysics Aims and scope

Abstract

A rather simple method for modifying the surface of powder carbonyl ion — the most widespread material of the active dispersed phase of magnetorheological liquids — is developed. It is shown that the specimens of liquids prepared based on modified carbonyl iron have an improved sedimentation stability, a viscosity severalfold lower than the initial one, and hence an expanded control range of rheological parameters when the magnetorheological effect is the same as in reference specimens.
