Abstract
The distortion of a mean-field video pulse in a random inhomogenous medium is studied using the well-known expression for the effective refractive index. Similar distortions of a radio pulse (with a high-frequency envelope) are analyzed for comparison. It is found that the decrease in mean-field amplitude of a video pulse with distance due to scattering is considerably slower than the same effect for the radio pulse with a high-frequency envelope.
