Contact electrohydrodynamic waves of free charge carriers at the interface of two semiconductor layers

Abstract

It is shown that electrohydrodynamic waves similar to gravity waves at the interface of two liquids can propagate in a semiconductor structure composed of two semiconductor layers with different charge carrier densities and placed in a transverse electric field. The conditions for existence of such waves are specified. The linear and nonlinear modes of wave propagation are studied.
