Abstract
We consider a problem of distribution of counts from an optical photodetector recording a non-polarized radiation field with properties of normal Markovian process. The well-known Mandel formula describing the probability P(n) of recording of n photocounts per observation interval (0, T) is generalized to the case of a detector with time-dependent quantum efficiency ε(t).
