Abstract

Enthalpies of the germanides Gd5Ge3, GdGe, and GdGe1.5 were measured in the range 298.15–2155 K for the first time by the method of mixing calorimetry. The temperatures, enthalpies, and entropies of melting of the compounds were determined, and also those of the polymorphic transformations in GeGd1.5. Equations for the temperature dependence of the basic thermodynamic functions over a wide temperature range were determined and recommended for, practical use.
