Abstract

A left modified Blalock-Taussig shunt was performed in a 3-year old child with Fallot's tetralogy. Intraoperative course was uneventful. Persistent hypoxia was noticed in the post-operative period in spite of a clinically functioning shunt. Angiography revealed a functioning shunt with totally blocked left pulmonary artery. A thrombus was removed from the left pulmonary artery which dramatically improved the clinical course of the patient.
