Errors in determination of the refractive index for axially symmetric inhomogeneity

Measurement Techniques Aims and scope

Abstract

We estimate the error of a multichannel laser refractometer in the investigation of an axially symmetric structure. We consider the effect of photon noise and determine the contribution of the intrinsic noise of the photodetector. We take into account the error due to fluctuation of the refractive index along the path of the light rays, and also consider the interpolation error.
