Synthesis of poly (p-nitrophenoxya cetylene) and study of its ESR spectra

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    p-Nitrophenoxyacetylene readily polymerizes; it easily undergoes thermally initiated copolymerization with phenylacetylene.

  2. 2.

    Thermal polymerization of the aryloxyacetylenes is through a radical mechanism.

  3. 3.

    NO2 groups stabilize the free radicals formed in reaction.
