Conclusions
-
1.
Study has been made of the effect of LiOCOCH3, LiCl, LiClO4, KOCOCH3 and NaOCOCH3 on β-elimination kinetics.
-
2.
A mechanism for β-elimination in anhydr. acetic acid containing various salts has been proposed.
-
3.
Rate constants for the various steps in the proposed β-elimination mechanism have been calculated.
