Abstract
T he magnetic properties and features of magnetic domain structures of recently developed grain-oriented 15 to 50 μm thick Si-Fe foil with very high permeability were investigated. The reported induc-tion values of these materials were 1.70 to 1.95 T at 800 A/m. These high values produced low core losses. The losses of toroidal cores made of 50-μm thick material was W15/400 = 8.0 W/kg and W18/400 = 12.5 W/kg. Despite the presence of a very small primary recrystallized grain size, they consisted of simple magnetic domains with 180° domain walls; ac magnetization was achieved by simple 180° domain wall displacement. The cut core, made of 20μn thick material, was W10/10k = 330 W/kg and W15/10k = 580 W/kg, which compares to those of amorphous cut cores.
