The corrosion behavior of some Fe-Cr alloys

Abstract

The corrosion behavior of Fe-Cr alloys is discussed in terms on their chromium content. Previous work has shown that certain chromium contents greatly improve the resistance of Fe-Cr alloys to pitting by chlorides. In this paper similar results are shown for hydrofluoric acid, oxidizing acids, and reducing acids. The resistance of these alloys to stress-corrosion cracking is also discussed. The effect of heat treatment on the corrosion behavior of Fe-Cr alloys is also described.
