Abstract

A technique for the calculation of the elastic modulus of Ti:6Al-4V sheet based upon pole figure data and single crystal elastic constants has been developed. The technique uses pole figures based upon the Lopata and Kula method, the Schmid and Boas approximation for Youngs modulus, and uses a Reuss averaging technique. Comparison of the resultant values to experimentally determined modulus have shown excellent agreement. Examples of the technique to the evaluation of various lots of commercial sheet material are presented.
