Latent heat and crystallization of fatty acids

Some practical considerations in preparation of mixed fatty acids of tallow for pressing

  • Published:
Oil & Soap

Abstract

Methods and procedure in preparing mixed fatty acids of tallow for pressing to obtain oleic acid are generally discussed. Experimental determinations of the specific heat and latent heat thermal capacities are described. Upon the basis of these determinations the required mechanical refrigeration capacity is estimated. Applicable types of refrigeration equipment are discussed and compared.
