The quaternary geology of the dutch part of the north sea and the exploration of sand and gravel

Summary

A survey is given of the results of several geological investigations of the Netherlands North Sea area. The author deals especially with the lithological aspects of the several deposits and indicates further an interpretation of the results. The latter turns out the expected similarity between the geological systems of the western Netherlands and the adjoining part of the North Sea. Some consequences for the exploitation of sand and gravel deposits are indicated.

Résumé

L’auteur donne un tour d’horizon des résultats de plusieurs recherches géologiques de la région néer landaise de la Mer du Nord. Il traite notamment les aspects lithologiques des différents dépôts et indique ensuite une interprétation des résultats. Cette interprétation de’bouche à l’identité expectée du système géologique des Pays-Bas occidentals et la partie avoisinante de la Mer du Nord. Quelques conséquences pour l’exploitation des dépôts graveleux et sableux sont indiquées.
