Zusammenfassung

Es wird über den Einfluß der Orotsäure auf die experimentelle Galaktose-Karakt der Albinoratte berichtet und versucht, die resultierenden morphologischen und histochemischen Befunde zu erklären. In den beiden ersten Versuchswochen ist die Galaktose-Katarakt bei mit Orotsäure behandelten Ratten nicht so ausgeprägt wie ohne diese Futterbeigabe, jedoch sind keine deutlichen und regelmäßigen Trübungsunterschiede nach 31/2 Wochen in beiden Versuchsgruppen zu erkennen.

Summary

The influence of orotic acid on the experimental galactose cataract in the albino rat is described and an attempt is made to explain the resulting morphological and histochemical findings. During the first two weeks of the experiment, the galactose cataract in those rats treated with orotic acid is not so pronounced as in the rats that are not fed with this substance, but after three and a half weeks no distinct or regular differences in the lens opacities are recognized between the two groups.
